While working at the Department for Neighborhood Development, Jon managed the planning, preservation, financing, and development of over 1,000 affordable housing units across Boston. From organizing and running community meetings, underwriting financial spreadsheets, to presenting before city boards and commissions, Jon knows the city’s housing process and what needs to be improved. That is where this plan came from.
Boston is consistently one of the most expensive housing markets in the country. This is the most pressing problem currently facing the City and without a well-thought out plan and a commitment to policy changes, things will not improve. A serious plan is crucial as housing is the basis of meeting so many other needs. Public health, education, and all other policy areas are deeply impacted by housing. To tackle this problem, Boston needs policies that come at both sides of the issue, from both supply and demand.
